Impact Evaluation
(MEL)

At Ingentium, we specialise in providing robust project and funding impact evaluation services using MEL practices – Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning – to a diverse range of clients including government departments, charities, and businesses across various industries.

Our goal is to help you quantify and understand the impact of your projects and the effectiveness of your funding, aligning with best practice standards. Our approach is designed to provide you with clear insights and actionable recommendations, empowering your organisation to make informed decisions about future strategies and project directions.

What we offer

Comprehensive Impact Analysis

We assess the performance and sustainability of your projects by measuring their impact against both your internal and external objectives, such as your theory of change, and relevant external criteria, including OECD evaluation criteria.

In-Depth Reporting

Our evaluations include detailed reports that not only highlight the outcomes but also provide proposed next steps to enhance project efficacy as needed.

Advanced Tools and Techniques

We use advanced systems throughout our evaluation and interpretation processes, including our own algorithms and models, to understand the strengths and weak points of your project.

Handling Complex Projects

We are adept at evaluating projects with non-obvious cause and effect relationships, ensuring an intensive understanding of impacts.

Flexible Adaptable Approaches

Whether you lack baseline data or have incomplete data access, our team is skilled in adapting methodologies to still deliver credible, evidence-based evaluations.

Stakeholder Engagement

Through various methods such as one-on one interviews, surveys, focus groups, and extensive data analysis, we ensure that our findings are well-supported and verifiable.

Breaking down the Evaluation Process

  • Phase 1: Development of Evaluation Framework

    1. Review Existing Data

We thoroughly examine operational and grant-related documents provided by the client. This initial step helps us understand the client’s core objectives and the key outcomes they aim to achieve.

    2. Stakeholder Meetings

We conduct meetings with the client’s team to gain deeper insights into the project’s goals and the impacts it intends to achieve. These discussions are crucial for aligning our evaluation strategies with your project’s objectives.

    3. Design Evaluation Framework

We develop a comprehensive evaluation framework that includes indicators addressing the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability of the project. These indicators are specifically designed to answer the Overarching Questions (OAQs) that are tied to the project’s goals.

    4. Plan Data Collection

We outline a detailed plan for data collection to be conducted at the all-hands event, as well as through other methods such as interviews with key informants. Our approach includes both observational and interactive techniques to gather nuanced feedback, while ensuring the anonymity of the data to maintain integrity and honesty in responses.

  • Phase 2: Execution of Evaluation

    1. Data Collection

Our team will attend the all-hands meeting to observe interactions and minimally engage with attendees as part of our stakeholder research. Additionally, we will conduct a thorough review of relevant documents and perform in depth interviews. This comprehensive approach ensures we collect data that will effectively inform the evaluation indicators.

    2. Data Assessment

We analyse the data gathered to assess the project’s achievements against the pre-established indicators and Overarching Questions (OAQs). This analysis helps us identify the project’s strengths, weaknesses, and areas needing improvement, providing a clear picture of its overall performance.

    3. Data Compilation

All findings are stored anonymously in an Excel workbook to ensure confidentiality. This organised compilation provides the client with a comprehensive dataset, facilitating further analysis and decision making.

  • Phase 3: Interpretation and Reporting

    1. Synthesise Findings

We integrate the data collected in Phases 1 and 2 to extract key lessons, identify best practices, and highlight challenges encountered within the project. This synthesis helps in understanding the full scope of the project’s impact.

    2. Develop Recommendations

Based on the evaluation data, we formulate strategic recommendations for areas of development and potential enhancements. These recommendations are carefully aligned with the organisation’s project vision to bolster support for the next funding application.

    3. Prepare Final Report

We compile the synthesised findings, case studies, and strategic recommendations into a slide deck report. This report includes an executive summary that succinctly outlines the project’s strengths, weaknesses, and actionable recommendations.

    4. Presentation

We present the final report and executive summary to the client in a structured meeting. This presentation serves as a clear and detailed roadmap for future actions and strategies for upcoming grant applications.
